Cannot edit content index July 22, 2008

When configuring search, I often create the indexes, configure the managed properties, ensure I have results, and then go back to configure the crawling schedules based on various processes that run during the night etc.  This however used to work fine in SharePoint 2003, but with MOSS I have picked up that this is no longer possible.

I’ve come across the fact that once you create an index without an update schedule, you cannot go back in and edit it. I get the following error in the exception: “Invalid values of start and end time.   at Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.Search.Admin.Pages.SearchAdminPageBase.ErrorHandler…

If you receive this error, the only way to get around it is to delete the content index and recreate it, but this time, configure the update schedules before navigating away from it.
